How to Replace Drive Belt on Ariens Snowblower

One of the most common parts to replace on a Ariens snowblower is the drive belt.  Due to often use during the winter season, the belt will wear out or break. Follow these instructions to replace the drive belt on your Ariens snowblower:

Ariens Snowblower Belt

**Remove the start key from the ignition before doing any repairs to the snowblower**

  • Detach the deflector cable from the chute using a pair of pliers
  • Remove the screws securing the belt cover to remove the cover
  • Using a socket wrench remove the bolts and washers securing the belt guide and pull the guide off
  • Remove the bolts and washers, on both sides of the snowblower, securing the blower housing to the frame
  • Pivot the frame away from the blower housing
  • Detach and rest the back part of the snowblower on its handle parts
  • Disconnect the idler spring
  • Remove the cotter pin and the bolts securing the swing plate assembly
  • Remove the old drive belt from the drive shaft, if still intact
  • Set the speed control to full throttle to release the old belt, if applicable
  • Install the new drive belt
