How to Replace Drive Belt on Troy-Bilt Snowblower

One of the most common parts to replace on a Troy-Bilt snowblower is the drive belt. The belt will often wear out or break due to excessive use, this is normal. Follow these instructions to replace the drive belt on your snowblower:

  • Remove the 3 screws from the belt cover located on the side of the snowblower
  • Pull the cover off
  • Use a piece of wood as a support to secure the auger in place. Put the wood down the discharge chute.
  • Use a socket (11/16) to remove the nut securing the auger pulley
  • Remove the washers
  • Release the brake by holding it down and remove the belt from the pulleys
  • Install the new belt by looping it around the auger pulley
  • Align the opposite part of the belt on the idler and onto the drive pulley
  • Replace the auger pulley onto the hub
  • Replace the washers and secure the auger pulley nut
  • Make sure the belt is seated properly
  • Remove the support
  • Put the belt cover back on with the 3 screws
